As the gay capital of Mexico, you can only imagine the wealth of establishments - both daytime and nighttime - that cater to Puerto Vallarta's gay and lesbian crowd. The place to be is the south side of the city; more commonly known as the Zona Romántica, it's brimming with gay beaches, restaurants, spas, hotels, bars, nightclubs and much more.

Come nightfall, the hub of the action is Olas Altas street. Gay folks of all ages and from all around the globe bar-hop their way through the early hours at cocktail bars and outdoor cafés and gear up for the late-night clubs. Party animals keep the night going at nightclubs and "discotecas," where wild dance floors, flamboyant performances and plenty of drinks set the atmosphere. Don't expect these late-night establishments to start filling up until at least midnight.
